I found them!!! They fell off the bookshelf on the back and it was on the back of the bookshelf. It feels good knowing I am not crazy; that I did not just think I have them, I actually have them. Thanks for your sympathy. It made me know that I am not alone :-)
Now I just have to find the diamond shape in the baby's puzzle and the the newly acquired toy train engine (he's only planed it for less than one day!)

So glad you found them! I think sometimes the hardest part of losing something like that is not the loss of the item but the feeling that you've completely lost your mind!
